Ken Crowne

Strategist, Builder, Seller and Coach

Ken Crowne has over 15 years of experience in the SDR/ISR space and today still makes time to be a direct seller, team leader, and direct managers in the Inside Sales and Sales Development function.

Armed with classic training and certifications in coaching in SPIN, Customer Centric Selling and the Challenger methodologies, Ken has personally sold and built fully functioning teams in eCommerce, SaaS, product, and Managed Service spaces. Ken has co-founded small startups with 2 people from the inside a plumbing warehouse space (not a garage....sorry) and contributed to multi-national brands up to 1.3B USD revenue.

A founding principle to achieve sales nirvana for CrowneGuide clients points to a proven practice of  specialization in sales.

With teams nicknamed “detectives” “hunters” “farmers” and “closers” he rests his success on the belief that virtually no seller is great at all parts of a customers sales journey and lifecycle. Intrinsically, people perform best doing things they like.  

I've mentioned this anology to C-level and private equity firms; A football team's quarterback should not and does not have stats or measurements around catching, blocking, or punting….but many of today’s sellers have this “do it all” measurement and it just doesn’t fit their style or strength. So why must they endure this?

In teams of ten or more, through careful hiring and analysis tools, Ken takes each persons strengths and places them into the part of the sales process they excel at. He then measures the “stats” that matter in that role. 

This permits extremely detailed troubleshooting and inspires the right coaching when parts of the process can be specifically managed, leaving the others to continue running without interruption.

Don't Fire Josh Allen!

The Buffalo Bills didn't win the Super Bowl. The issue isn't the Quarterback.

The sellers didn't make their number... DONT fire the ISR/SDR

The philosophy here is that specialization and precise statistical tracking now permits us to analyze, coach and make key decisions as to who each player ought to be in a assembly-line style of sales process. Each member of the team has a specific job, and is measured and retained based on that. SDRs are no different, and like ifootball, score very few of their own touchdowns.  If you followed the 2022 Buffalo Bills, Josh Allen's statistics and Q in his role (QB) were #2 out of 30 in the NFL. Not bad!!!  We keep Josh Allen, but start to review the stats of those responsible for running or catching. And we make coaching or player adjustments there. At THAT point in the process. Selling is NO different. We specialize. We each have our stats.

CrowneGuide, Inc. is dedicated to this principle-- after seen high performing SDRs lose their jobs because leadership simply saw the closed revenue nationally wasn't high enough.

This behavior, still in place at companies large and small is stupid and borders on business malpractice-- and should be avoided at all costs. An SDR averaging 23 generated ICP opportunities per month should be lauded as a winner and not RIFd because the sellers 'dropped the ball'.

Josh Allen isn't the problem. His running backs and receivers are!
